Summer lace

The ethereal pattern of this gorgeous summer top that was published in the summer edition of Brave best troubled a dear reader of the magazine, so I thought to make a video and a chart showing the pattern.
Personally, I always prefer charts than written instructions, I find them  more easy to help me understand and execute the given pattern.
The published pattern is knitted with large needles to create the ethereal result. In the sample I prepared, I used small needles.

The pattern is formed in 4 rows that are repeated throughout and the number of the sts must be a multiple of 6sts + 3sts.
A perfect pattern for summer blouses and shawls!

Abbreviations:
p = purl
k = knit
RS = right side
WS = wrong side
st = stitch
skp = slip a stitch, knit the next stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knit one
sk2pslip1, knit 2 tog, pass slipped stitch over
k2tog = knit 2 sts together
p2tog = purl 2 stitches together
p2tog tbl = purl 2 together through the back loops
p2sp = p2tog, move the p2tog back to left needle, pass next stitch of left needle over the p2tog

The only difficulty of this pattern is that it is worked on wrong sides also, wheer the flow of the pattern is reversed and there is a chance of making mistakes.

Alternative suggestion:

The following pattern resembles a lot the initial, but is easier to knit, because on the wrong sides the sts and yarnovers are purled.The pattern is formed in 4 rows that are repeated throughout and the number of the sts must be a multiple of 6sts + 3sts.

Autumn, finally time for knitting!

It's almost the end of November and the weather is still warm here in Greece, but the change of nature with the incredible colors of the leaves tells us winter is coming, the ideal season for warm clothes and the favorite season for knitters!
This year knits have a strong presence on the catwalks and the hottest trends are oversized sweaters, full with textures,but also with color!
Get inspired by the gorgeous knits of the season and start knitting!

On a new design I'm working I decided to combine bold colors, fair isle and the honeycomb stitch:

The classic honeycomb stitch is worked as following:
Works with stitches multiple of 8

Row 1 (RS): *C4B, C4F,* rep from * to end.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4: Purl.
Row 5: *C4F, C4B,* rep from * to end.
Row 6: Purl.
Row 7: Knit.
Row 8: Purl.
Repeat rows 1 – 8 throughout.

C4B: slip next 2 stitches to cable needle behind work, k2, then k the stitches from cable needle.
C4F: slip next 2 stitches to cable needle in front of work, k2, then k the stitches from cable needle.

Scarves-the best solution to keep you warm

Scarves are in fashion this winter and are very good warmers. They are easy and quick to make and also a very good idea for gift.
The weather may now not be very cold and spring is around the corner, but knitting is still pleasant and March has always surprises!

I started some time ago a scarf with the fabulus yarn I got as Christmas present from my dear friend Susie from England and I hope to finish it before the weather gets too warm :)

I chose a lace pattern veru easy to execute, so that I can carry it with me and be able to knit without having to look at the instructions al the time:

Repeat the stitches between the two arrows, that is your stitches must be divided with 12,plus 3.
First row: sl,1k,*k2tog twice,yo,1k,yo,ik,yo,ik,yo,skp twice,1k*,repeat directions between *,1k.
Second row: purl
Third row: knit
Forth row: purl.
Repeat rows 1-4.

And if you don't know knitting, there are fantastic knitters at Etsy who offer gorgeous scarves:
