The
August 2022 Issue of "I like knitting" magazine features my "folks blouse" and "Illianna" tank,
among gorgeous new sweaters (including a turtleneck), vests, a poncho, mittens and more that any knitter will love!
Folks blouse was inspired by the embroidered peasant tops popular through
the ages. It’s knit bottom up in pieces and then sewn. The blouse is knitted in St st with a hem in garter stitch at the bottom of front and back, and eyelet borders at cuffs and neckline, where ties are weaved through.
The sleeves are decorated with stranded colorwork of stitch patterns, adopted from traditional embroidery folk patterns, with each pattern in a different color to create an interesting contrast.
An abstract landscape painting in beautiful earth tones decorates the front of Illianna, which is designed with loose, relaxed fit, lush turtleneck, and modified drop shoulder shape. The hems and turtleneck are worked in double ribbing. The colorwork of the front is worked with the intarsia method, with the back and sleeves in St st.
