Knitted jumpers for penguins

There was a big fuss lately online about the  Knits for Nature program of the  Philip Island Penguin Foundation. The Foundation claims that these jumpers are used for rehabilitation of any rescued oiled penguins, while other scientists claim that they are not helpful at all.
